Commissioned by RMIT to create the exhibition’s identity design we were inspired by its title – ‘Blow Up’ (a reference to the 1966 film based on the life and times of swinging London photographer David Bailey) and the shape of a photographer’s loupe.
Evolving that shape we developed a stylised graphic icon device that could be applied in a variety of ways across all promotional material.
Primarily, it enabled all students' featured works to be included on the catalogue cover, with a ‘blown-up’ fragment of each piece placed in the device.
